Congratulations to Elfriede Leicht who recently was named Professional Woman of the Year by the Denver Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (DGLCC). The award recognizes individuals who’ve made outstanding advances and contributions to the GLBT community through their professional and community activities. Elfriede received two nominations for this year’s award acknowledging her length of service to the Chamber including her participation on the Board of Directors and numerous committees. One of the nominations states "Elfriede is simply awesome!"

Elfriede has been a member of the DGLCC since 1994. She says her participation was part of a conscious decision she made when moving to Colorado to be out, and to help others feel comfortable in their decision to be out as well. "I’ve been fortunate to have worked for employers like CHFA who’ve created open and inclusive environments, and who’ve contributed to the Chamber by sponsoring events and supporting my involvement," says Leicht. Elfriede’s award will be presented at the 12th Annual Gay and Lesbian Business Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 13 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Brown Palace.
